The TroubleAtlas Score.
An independent verdict — never for sale.
The TroubleAtlas Score is an independent rating, from 0 to 10, of how much a device is truly worth owning — computed only from value and reliability data (real repair cost, parts, maintenance, documentation and data completeness), compared against its true peers. It owes nothing to any manufacturer.
A world atlas of honest device verdicts.
TroubleAtlas tests, documents and rates devices from around the world — starting with cars, expanding across every category — and assigns each a single, comparable verdict. The judgment is driven by hard data, not popularity. A product that is loved but expensive to keep alive will not outscore a humble one that simply serves its owner well.
No pay-to-play
A maker can pay to be presented on the page. It can never pay for a score.
Same rules, every brand
Every device is judged on identical axes, so a number means the same thing across the whole atlas.
Judged among peers
Each device is compared with its true peers — same era, same class. A flagship is never punished for not costing like a city car.
Statistical humility
Thin data is drawn to the middle — it can neither inflate nor sink a verdict. We never guess a number.
Five things that actually matter to an owner.
Every device is judged on the same axes, each on a 0–10 scale, so a score means the same thing across the whole atlas.
| Voice (0–10) | What it measures | Data behind it |
|---|---|---|
| Repair cost | what fixing it costs in labour | labour-time databases × local workshop rates, against peers of the same class |
| Parts & repairability | how well supported it is | OEM & aftermarket parts-catalogue coverage for its typical faults |
| Maintenance burden | the upkeep it demands | manufacturer service schedules & intervals |
| Documentation & support | how well documented it is | technical service bulletins & repair guides per production year |
| Data completeness | how fully we can support you on it | verified spec sheet: fluids, battery, tyres, schedules, fault-code map |
Everything is on the record.
We publish exactly how the verdict is reached, who writes it, and how we correct it when we get it wrong. Read the documents and check our work.
