The line will not feed, and the head is almost never the reason.
A trimmer has three things that fail and they look alike from the outside: the head, the shaft and the drive coupling at the bottom of it.

Repair it, or replace it

The whole machine
Heads and line cost little and fix most of it. A stripped drive shaft on a cheap machine is usually where the repair stops making sense. Both new and used open in the shop for your country.
Trimmers & brushcutters: the failures that repeat
Line welded to itself inside the spool after the head got hot. A shaft that stops turning because the flexible drive is stripped. And heads that unscrew themselves because the thread is left-handed and was tightened the wrong way.
Written by the TroubleAtlas technical team from the manuals listed at the foot of this page. Where a maker documents a fault, we quote the maker.
What the maker sells as a replacement
Not “the most common failures” — nobody publishes that honestly. This is what Husqvarna, Champion Power Equipment, Patriot Products stocks as a spare for these machines, fasteners excluded.

The other families
Every machine in the section starts from one of these. Back to the garden hub.

Robot mowers
They run alone until they stop alone. Boundary wire, lifted-wheel errors, blade discs.
Open →
Riding mowers & tractors
Deck belts, PTO clutches, safety switches that cut the engine for no visible reason.
Open →
Walk-behind mowers
The machine that sat all winter and will not start in April. Carburettor, fuel, blade.
Open →
Chainsaws
Chain tension, bar wear, two-stroke mix gone stale, a clutch that drags at idle.
Open →
Hedge trimmers
Blades that jam on green wood, gearboxes that run dry, triggers with two safeties.
Open →
Blowers & vacuums
Loss of air, impellers packed with leaves, batteries that fall off under load.
Open →
Generators
No output at the socket, AVR faults, low-oil cut-outs, dual-fuel changeover.
Open →
Pressure washers
Pressure that drops, pumps that pulse, unloader valves and blocked nozzles.
Open →
Multi-tools & pole saws
One powerhead, many attachments — and couplings that wear where they meet.
Open →
Chippers & shredders
Feed that stalls, knives that dull, chutes that block before the engine complains.
